Ferrari strikes again

The first turbo model on offer on the Geneva motor show , an event  which will mark this week ,will be the Ferrari California T, announcing Ferrari’s big comeback in the turbocharging business. Among the many things the new redesigned California T have to offer is the brand new 3.9-liter V8 engine, and of course, the powerful turbo hidden under its hood. So, here are some of the characteristics of this model.

Those who know every feature of the Ferrari models, that is, Ferrari’s most passionate fans, will think that the F40 was the last of its brand that offered a turbocharger, but it was a subject to turbo lag. The California T’s engine has 560 hp and 557 lb-ft of torque, having better features than the last California which had 490 hp and 508 lb-ft of torque. It dashes to to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. The manufacturers have paid enough attention , haven’t they? Its fuel economy is ameliorated by 15 percent, and the emissions are decreased by 20 percent.

The idea for the design of this California T’s was taken from the 250 Testa Rossa with its characteristic styling and it was made by the skillful hands of the manufacturers from Pininfarina, with the additional help of Ferrari Style Center. The modern features added on the old, classic design  is the ruck line on the fender’s top, but those who have already seen any Ferrari model from the 1960s will immediately recognize Ferrari’s basic shape.

Ferrari hasn’t decorated only the the engine and the exterior part, the California T is also characterized by a completely redesigned chassis , comprising of a minuscule 40 percent of the parts the previous model had. Its new springs and the Magnaride dampers added to it, will allow more precise handling, and all this together will contribute to the safe and pleasant ride. CCM3 carbon-ceramic brakes are supercharged with composite composite discs and pads, while the ABS system with ESP 8.0 premium built in, provides very short stopping distances. California T  decelerates from 62 mph to a complete stop in 111 feet.

We should not forget to mention the other small differences the California T has, such as the ingress and egress of rear passengers which is ameliorated with the front seats that slide step forward , the CarPlay Apple (an Apple Inc. standard allowing devices running the iOS operating system to function with built-in display units of automobile dashboards) and the brand new steering box.

When the California T debuts, Ski, Golf, and Country configuration options will be disposable. Ski package has anti-scratch carbon-fiber with metal inserts, whereas the Golf package offers tartan design in the interior. The Country configuration package offers warm leather tones and the part where the baggage will be placed is lined with Testa di Moro leather, the same leather used in the cabin.

Another thing Ferrari will exhibit to the Geneva motor show, apart from the California T is the F12berlinetta, which is the company’s most powerful mid-front mounted V12, as well as the 458 Spiderand the two Ferrari FFs.
