American muscle cars have been primary of the automotive market for many decades. America has produced most of the fastest muscle cars on the market with the meanest looking body styles, the 60s and 70s are usually regarded as the heyday of the American muscle cars.
The cars today can never be compared to the muscle cars of the legendary retro time. Ever wonder why there are a lot of movies made showcasing these American beasts and beauties at the same time?
Here is a list that we made for the top five American’s favorite muscle cars. You can clearly see why they were so special to us while we made the list and why they are still shown at many car shows these days.

Dodge Challenger
Best Years were, the late 1970 Dodge Challenger, 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
Chrysler already had the beautiful muscle creature, the Barracuda but decided to market a new muscle car which was named the Challenger. It came out in early 1970 and featured several straight six engines as well as V8 engines.
The Challenger was sent into retirement in the late 1974 due to the oil crisis.
In 2008, the Challenger returned to the market. The third generation Challenger is more comfort and updated in the style.
The beast Challenger considered the Hellcat Redeye with a 797hp V8 is one of the favorite muscle car throughout the entire Challenger series.

Chevy Corvette
Best Years of Chevy Corvette : 1984 C4, 2015–2019 Corvette Z06 and 2019 Corvette ZR1 The Chevy Corvette was introduced in the early 1953 before muscle cars actually existed. The Corvette has claim the fame as far as the first car was produced as a vehicle with 1hp per cubic in.
The second-generation of Corvette, the 1963 Sting Ray was introduced with really nice coupe body. It came with exhaust pipes and a big block V8.
The third-generation of Corvette featured T-top roof panels. It reduced the power with the switch of low-lead fuel sources.
Chevy Corvette came out with the fourth generation in the early 1984 with a new luxury interior and exterior design.
The sixth generation came out in the late 2005 and lasted until November 2013, the Z06 model with an acceleration that was compared to sports cars with much more expensive price on the market. The seventh-generation has its 755hp and still offers a manual transmission.

Ford Mustang

In the early 1963 Ford came up with the idea of building a small sports coupe for the younger generation. In 1964 they introduced the beast Mustang which was accepted with much popularity at that time.
During the first generation, it was designed to be more powerful. Initially, it came with just 101hp 6 cylinders. Later it was upgraded with the Boss 302, 302 cubic inch V8 with 290hp.
In the 1973 came out the second-generation of Mustang, named “the Mustang II”. It was smaller but it was not really accepted by the fans so in 1979 the third-generation Mustang was introduced with different body styles.
The fourth and the fifth generation of Mustangs had a huge design difference.The sixth generation of Mustang with a coming Shelby GT500 that has a 700hp made it an awesome time to be a Mustang fan.
