Who will drive the New Chevrolet Camaro Z/28?

Dario Franchitti, the driver that has won Indianapolis 500 three times is the person who will drive the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28  for the running of the Indianapolis 500 held for the 98^th time.  which will also be held on May 25.The Camaro is chosen for the eight time to be the pace car, and Chevrolet has been pacing the race for the 25^th time.

The winner of the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, as we have mentioned above, is Franchitti and he is considered to be the the first driver who has won three IndyCar titles out of four championships. The fact that he presented himself in the Camaro Z/28 pace car has announced the start of his successful career as a professional driver with Chip Ganassi Racing, which, on the other hand, give him the opportunity to drive a Chevrolet in this year’s IndyCar season.

Douglas Boles,  the president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway expressed their opinion about Dario Franchitti, who, according to them, is a champion who is respected among car enthusiasts as well as other competitors, and it would be an exceptional opportunity to see him competing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

On the other hand, Franchitti said that he is glad to know that he is considered as the right person to drive the Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500. He can’t wait until the date of the competition, that is, May. Participating in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing is another ambition of Dario Franchitti, and he thinks that this opportunity will be a stepping stone to his goals in the future.

The competitions like Motor Speedway, Verizon IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500 were a challenge for Chevrolet, that is why this vehicle has always been present among the competitors. It was founded in 1911 and its co-founders Louis, Arthur and Gaston were former Indy 500 racers. Gaston Chevrolet has even won in 1920.

Since the appearance of Chevrolet, it has made a progress, regarding its performance. For example when it competed in 2002-05, it had a V-8 engine, but, in 2012 a new Chevrolet appeared with an IndyCar twin-turbo V-6 engine with direct injection. In 2012 and 2013, Chevrolet has won the manufacturer championship titles.
